Borders XC Series 2009-2010

Posted on March 1, 2010 by RUTH WATSON

The last of the six races in the series took place on Sunday 28th March at Peebles running out of Hay Lodge Park, along the banks of the River Tweed, crossing an old railway viaduct, before a steep climb up a hill through open fields and slow descent back down to the river. The very attractive and scenic route usually affords spectacular views over Peebles from the top but this year they were reduced by the driving sleet into your face coming off the top.
The results from the final race were:
Innes Ogilvie M13 10.20 minutes, Katie Watson F15 11.03, Rachel Watson F11 11.10, Anna Balfour F11 13.38.
Eddie Balfour MS 28.59 minutes, Frank McPartland M50 31.12, Ray Harris M55 35.47, Ruth Watson F40 35.55, Saartje Drijver F40 39.40.
HELP had three prize winners in the Series, Rachel Watson was first in the 8-11 years age group, Sandy Wallace was 2nd in the 55-60 years group and Ray Harris 3rd in the 55-60 years age group.
